The GI Film Festival is pleased to announce that five-time GRAMMY winner Wynonna Judd will participate in the GI Film Festival, which will be held May 6-12, 2013 in the Washington, DC metro area. Wynonna will receive a GI Film Festival “GI Spirit Award” for her charitable work in support of the troops.

The presentation will take place Saturday night, May 11, 2013 at the U.S. Navy Memorial prior to the “First Look” screening of the dynamic new documentary The Hornet’s Nest, directed by Christian Tureaud and David Salzberg. Well known for her 30-year career as a country music megastar, Wynonna is also passionate supporter of American servicemen and women. Wynonna performed as “The Judds” on the Bob Hope USO tour and earned the USO’s prestigious “Merit Award.” She has performed private concerts for Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed, and has welcomed home the troops at Ft. Campbell on multiple occasions. Wynonna also provided a song for the smash independent military film Act of Valor.

Wynonna now joins a distinguished list of previous GI Film Festival GI Spirit Award winners, including Gary Sinise, Jon Voight, Joe Mantegna, Lou Diamond Phillips, Ricky Schroeder, Christy Carlson Romano, Karri Turner, and Robert Davi (who will also receive the award at this year’s event).
