Kicks Off Series of New Music Releases Tonight, Performing as Part of ACM Lifting Lives Benefit at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country in Las Vegas

Nashville, Tenn. (March 4, 2022) — Curb Records recording artist FILMORE drops brand new track “Johnny Got A Girl” today (3/4). Preview the upbeat, guitar-driven song HERE, and watch the official visualizer HERE. Starting with “Johnny Got A Girl,” FILMORE is set to debut 11 songs in 11 weeks, kicking off his series of releases tonight, performing at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country in Las Vegas as part of the ACM Lifting Lives benefit.

On his first release of the year, FILMORE laments the loss of a longtime friend, who traded in his buddies for a girl who’s a ten out of ten. While FILMORE can’t blame the guy for going MIA, he still misses him and the hole he left behind. Rooted in real life and clever wordplay, the song finds the Wildwood, Missouri native pining for the good ole days with a bit of wry humor, a dash of beer-soaked nostalgia, and a dose of harsh reality: Johnny’s never coming back because “Johnny Got A Girl.”

“‘Johnny Got A Girl’ is about an actual friend in my life who ended up getting in a relationship. And every time we tried to call him or go out to the bar or hang out on the weekends to watch football, he was always ‘busy,’” explains FILMORE of the track he co-wrote with Jordan Schmidt, Geoff Warburton and Kyle Clark. “You know, I think that happens in a lot of relationships — it’s brand new, the honeymoon phase. People fall in love fast, and instead of including their friends in that life, they kind of just move on from all their friends they’ve had for years, and they end up just revolving their world around one human. And there’s nothing wrong with that. ‘Johnny Got A Girl’ is about missing that friend that doesn’t come and hang anymore because he found a girl, and she doesn’t want him out with the boys.”

In the coming weeks, fans can look forward to additional drops from FILMORE, including pub-worthy singalong “Leave Me A Memory” and retro-tinged track “Girl Back.”
