Curb Records singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mo Pitney and Big Loud Texas traditionalist Jake Worthington bring the fire of the fiddle and the steel guitar to town with “Wake Up and Smell the Country,” out today (3/27) — listen HERE.

With a nod to genre purists like George Jones and Merle Haggard, the feel-good number celebrates the return of traditional country music. Pitney enlists Worthington, a runner-up on Season 6 of “The Voice,” for the boot-tappin’, two-steppin’ original that unites clever wordplay with a rugged Southern sound. “Wake Up and Smell the Country” marks Pitney’s first solo release following his side project, Pitney Meyer’s Cherokee Pioneer. The nimble musician named to Rolling Stone’s list of “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know About” wrote the note-bending track with Wyatt McCubbin; and produced it alongside Jim “Moose” Brown.

“This is a song about needing to pay attention to the times, that traditional country music seems to be resonating with folks again; and you better jump on board while you get the chance,” Pitney shares. “I couldn’t be more thrilled about this collaboration with Jake Worthington — what an amazing country singer. We’re excited about this revival of classic country music in the world.”

Pitney has been road testing portions of freshly written material across his social platforms. Fans can anticipate a steady stream of new music from the Cherry Valley, Illinois native throughout 2026.

About Mo Pitney:

Curb Records recording artist Mo Pitney received a standing ovation the very first time he performed on the iconic Grand Ole Opry stage. Named an “Artist To Watch” by Rolling Stone, Billboard and The Bobby Bones Show, Pitney has amassed over 40 million streams since the release of his autobiographical debut, Behind This Guitar. The Illinois-native leans on the influences of traditional country stalwarts like Ray Price, Buck Owens, Roger Miller and Merle Haggard. His original song, “Ain’t Bad for a Good Ol’ Boy,” was featured on The Ranch (A Netflix Original Series Official Soundtrack). “Wake Up and Smell the Country (with Jake Worthington)” is available now.

About Jake Worthington:

For Big Loud Texas traditionalist Jake Worthington, country music is in his DNA. The La Porte, Texas native was raised on his grandfather’s porch performances of Ray Price, Merle Haggard and George Jones, and soon picked up his own Gibson acoustic to realize the breadth of his soon-to-be-classic, wide and wild voice. Now, Worthington breathes fresh life into dance halls, beer joints and ballrooms from Texas to Tennessee with his growing catalog – his sophomore album When I Write The Song is out now with Miranda Lambert collaboration “Hello Shitty Day,” “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart),” viral “It Ain’t The Whiskey” and more. Captivating the masses with his honky-tonk stylings, the singer-songwriter hits the road this year on his headlining Intent To Tonk Tour, as well as opening dates with Luke Combs, Luke Bryan, HARDY, Parker McCollum, Riley Green and Ian Munsick. “I believe in country music as much as I believe in my next breath,” Worthington declares, and “blame it on my raising, but I think there ought to be room for country in country music.”
