ATLANTA – Three-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart currently leads the United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters National and Deep South standings.
Stewart, a three-time winner in the series last year, has three top-three finishes thus far this year. Stewart was the runner-up in the season opener at Hendry County Motorsports Park on Jan. 25.
He backed that up with with a third-place finish on Feb. 8 at Bubba Raceway Park and a runner-up result on Feb. 9 at Bubba. All three events were part of the 10-race USCS Winter Heat mini-series.
Davie Franek, who won the round three contest at Bubba Raceway Park, trails Stewart by 12 points. Franek was the runner-up in the season opener at Hendry County Motorsports Park, when Midwest sprint car legend and Sprint Car Hall of Famer Danny Smith was the winner.
Danny Martin Jr. from Sarasota, Fla., ranks third in USCS National and USCS Deep South region standings. Mark Smith, who won the Feb. 9 USCS Winter Heat Series race at Bubba Raceway Park, is just two points back of Martin in fourth place. Justin Barger, a recent transplant from New York state to Cornelius, N.C., rounds out the top five. Smith, Terry Gray, Johnny Bridges, Tony Agin and Garrett Green are sixth through 10th, respectively.
