Less than a year after releasing her debut LP, That Girl, Curb Records recording artist Hannah Ellis continues to stoke the fire of her momentum with “Once,” out today (9/6) — listen HERE and watch the official music video HERE.

The searing original finds the Kentucky native serving up autobiographical lines alongside a hypothetical scenario, issuing a warning that you’ll only ever break her heart once. Unwilling to give second chances to a cheater, Ellis stands her ground as she ignites a scathing ode to forgiving but never forgetting on the pop-country track that divulges a defiantly brazen side to the singer/songwriter. Ellis wrote “Once” with her husband Nick Wayne, Jason Duke and Jason Massey, who also produced the song.

In January, the ACM New Female Artist nominee dropped That Girl, her first full-length effort, with all 13 selections co-penned by the in-demand lyricist. From the clever wordplay of twangy fan favorites “Wine Country” and “Karma on the Rocks” to the raw vulnerability of breakup confessional “Someone Else’s Heartbreak” and album closer “Too Much and Not Enough,” Ellis’ introductory record reveals a seasoned songwriter fully embracing her small-town roots, her real-life romance, and her well-honed artistic voice on every level. Armed with more new music to come, she’s poised to showcase fresh facets of her artistry beginning with today’s release of “Once.”

In support of her debut project, the “Country Can” singer took That Girl on the road this summer with multiple appearances at CMA Fest in Nashville, Tenn., and notable stops in Orlando, Fla.; Charlotte, N.C.; Raleigh, N.C.; Kansas City, Mo.; and her hometown of Campbellsville, Ky., where she served as the grand marshal in the town’s 4th of July parade. Up next, Ellis is slated to perform at GoldenSky Festival 2024 in Sacramento, Calif., on Oct. 19.

About Hannah Ellis:

Curb Records recording artist, Country music singer/songwriter, and 2024 ACM Nominee Hannah Ellis’ journey — and world — is one all can feel at home in. The Campbellsville, Kentucky native’s voice — a mix of favorite flannel, sparkling pink wine and welcome — is the friend we always wanted. Whether pouring from a car radio or your phone, the act named to Rolling Stone Country’s “Artist To Watch” list reminds you big leaps often come as a series of small steps when no one is looking. Having paid for her University of Kentucky degree with her full-ride scholarship, she — with the full support of her family — started chasing her dreams. Like so many, that meant a self-financed EP, and moving to Nashville to begin the endless rounds of writers nights, meetings, making friends, and trying to find your way. Hannah paid her dues, kept her focus and kept moving toward something she was sure she felt and knew was right. The fresh-faced songwriter, who has 55 million career streams, has since written songs recorded by artists, and been featured as a vocalist on songs, spanning multiple genres, including: Russell Dickerson, Carly Pearce, FOR KING + COUNTRY, Emily Weisband, Cassadee Pope, Filmore, and Sidewalk Prophets. The magnetic artist, who has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry multiple times since making her debut, has toured with Carly Pearce, Billy Currington, Gavin DeGraw, Dwight Yoakam, Devin Dawson, and many others, and has toured as part of the CMT “Next Women of Country” Tour. Ellis was invited back by her college alma mater to be featured in a national television advertising campaign about pursuing and achieving your dreams. Hannah is a “CMT LISTEN UP” artist to watch. She earned her first ACM nomination in 2024 in the category, New Female Artist of the Year. Hannah’s 13-song (all co-written by Ellis) debut album, That Girl, is available now, with more new music coming in 2024.
