Hosts 1st Annual Hannah Ellis Officer Down Golf Classic For C.O.P.S.
Curb Records artist Hannah Ellis remembers the life and legacy of her late cousin on “Officer Down (10th Anniversary),” out today (10/17) — listen HERE. Additionally, fans can watch Ellis deliver a new stunning performance of the recording on YouTube. The Kentucky native previously gave fans an exclusive first listen during a Taste of Country interview earlier this month.
Slightly retouched, the updated version of Ellis’ signature song — which she originally released as an independent artist in 2017 — honors the 10th anniversary of the tragic death of her cousin, Daniel, a 33-year-old police officer killed in the line of duty on Nov. 6, 2015. With lyrical details only a true storyteller could craft and heartfelt emotion only a close loved one could articulate, the poignant tribute salutes those, like Daniel, who risk their lives every day to protect others. Ellis penned the deeply personal cut with Justin Ebach and Steven Dale Jones. Meanwhile, Eric Arjes produced the track.
To further mark the significant milestone, on Monday (Oct. 13), Ellis hosted the 1st annual Hannah Ellis Officer Down Golf Classic. Held at Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn., the full-day event boasted 18 holes of championship golf, catered meals, a silent auction and an exclusive performance from the songwriter herself, all in support of C.O.P.S. (Concerns Of Police Survivors), an organization that helps families of fallen officers rebuild their lives in the wake of tragedy. See a recap HERE.
In May, during National Police Week, Ellis performed “Officer Down,” at the C.O.P.S. Gala in Washington, D.C., as well as at the Tennessee FOP Memorial Service in Nashville.
Her special anniversary edition of the original song follows additional releases, including the flirty, no-strings-attached “Love of My Night,” the empowering “The Women I Am (feat. Martina McBride)” and the sentimental “Waiting to Die (feat. Nick Wayne).”
With more new music on the way, Ellis and Wayne — her husband — are preparing for the birth of their first child, due in November.

The Campbellsville, Kentucky native’s voice — a mix of favorite flannel, sparkling pink wine and welcome — is the friend we always wanted. Whether pouring from a car radio or your phone, the act named to Rolling Stone Country’s “Artist To Watch” list reminds you big leaps often come as a series of small steps when no one is looking.
